About
Since her very first taste of the profession, understudying I Fagiolini’s immersive theatre production Betrayal in 2015, Elspeth has been captured by the dual art forms of music and drama, and has since pursued this pairing in her work, in both traditional opera as well as newly devised works.
She has played Sophie in the staged Bach St Matthew/ Sophie Scholl Passion, from theatre maker and director Ross McGregor with the Deutscher Chor London, Southwark Cathedral 2022; Sirena in Francesca Caccini’s opera La Liberazione di Ruggiero, Brighton Early Music Festival (BREMF) 2021; Cupid in Marco da Gagliano’s Daphne, BREMF 2020; and understudying Charlie in Anna Appleby’s Drought with the BBC Philharmonic 2022.
Most recently, she has been on stage as Second Woman to Mary Bevan’s Dido in Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas with Bjarte Eike and Barokksolitene at Den Ny Opera Festival 2023.
This coming April, she will be staring as Hermia in Hampstead Garden Opera’s production of The Fairy Queen by Purcell.

Elspeth is also a sought after soloist of the baroque repertoire, having performed at some of the country’s top festivals and venues including Handel The Messiah, Manchester Camerata & Kantos 2023; Bach St John Passion, Cumbria Opera Group 2023; Bach Lutheran Mass in F, Rachel Podger & I Fagiolini, Brecon Baroque 2022; Bach Cantata BWV51, The Hampstead Collective 2020; and MacMillan Seven Last Words from the Cross, The Britten Sinfonia, The Barbican 2016.
Living out her passion for one-to-a-part ensemble singing, Elspeth is a member of I Fagiolini, The Marian Consort and Musica Secreta. She also sings with The Sixteen, The Gabrieli Consort, Arcangelo, The Britten Sinfonia Voices, Eric Ericsons Kammarkör in Sweden, Consensus Vocalis in Holland, as well as The Netherlands Radio Choir.

Teaching
Elspeth is passionate about teaching and ardent in the belief that everyone can sing. Teaching adults and children alike, she is particularly focused on imparting the foundations of support for a solid vocal technique.
Having begun her teaching journey in 2016 with the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, training in teaching musicianship and sight-singing, Elspeth then taught the girl choristers of Christ Church Cathedral 2016-2020. She consolidated her training on the teaching course at the Royal Northern College of Music as part of her Masters degree (MMus; Distinction 2022).
Currently, Elspeth teaches at Sheffield Cathedral and St David’s Cathedral Wales, as well as her own private practice.
